Building the Team

Leadership & Recruitment

We're assembling a world-class team from the leading researchers in Floquet physics, quantum thermodynamics, and quantum error correction. Here's who we need — and who we're targeting.

Founder

Christopher Anderson
Executive Chairman & Founder

Quantum energy strategist. Identified the Floquet commercial white space and assembled the foundational IP portfolio — 18+ strategic domains covering the entire Floquet namespace. 30,000+ LinkedIn followers. Serial entrepreneur with portfolio companies across mining technology (Kasis Environmental), advocacy (EMABC), and quantum energy.

The Core Team We Need Now

These are the first 3 hires that transform Beyond Carnot from a strategic positioning play into a real quantum energy company.

CRITICAL — HIRE #1

Chief Science Officer — Quantum Thermodynamics

The scientific leader who owns the beyond-Carnot research agenda. Must have published record in quantum heat engines, squeezed thermal states, or Floquet engineering. This person gives us instant credibility with the physics community and investors.

🎯 Top Recruitment Targets

Ranked by fit. Reach out on LinkedIn with personalized messages referencing their specific work.

  • Prof. Eric Lutz
    University of Stuttgart
THE leading figure in quantum thermodynamics. Published the single-atom heat engine theory (Science 2016). Work on squeezed-bath enhanced efficiency is exactly our beyond-Carnot thesis. Would be the most credible CSO possible.
  • Dr. Obinna Abah
    University of Oulu, Finland
Published the key paper showing squeezed thermal reservoirs enable exceeding Carnot efficiency (EPL, 2014 with Lutz). His work IS our company's thesis. Mid-career — more likely to make a move to industry.
  • Dr. Johannes Roßnagel
    Industry (formerly University of Mainz)
Built the FIRST single-atom heat engine ever (Science, 2016). Already crossed from academia to industry — proven willingness to go commercial. Hands-on experimentalist.
  • Dr. Nicole Yunger Halpern
    NIST / University of Maryland
Author of "Quantum Steampunk." Public communicator + serious researcher. Would be incredible for both science leadership and public-facing credibility. Active LinkedIn presence.
  • Prof. Ronnie Kosloff
    Hebrew University of Jerusalem
Pioneer of quantum heat engines — invented the quantum Otto cycle framework. Foundational figure. Better as advisor given seniority, but would be a coup as CSO.
  • Prof. Wolfgang Niedenzu
    University of Innsbruck
Quantum coherence advantages in thermodynamic cycles — directly relevant to our beyond-Carnot positioning.
CRITICAL — HIRE #2

Chief Technology Officer — Floquet Engineering

The engineering leader who translates the science into hardware and systems. Must have experience with periodically driven quantum systems, quantum control, or experimental quantum physics. Bridges research and product.

🎯 Top Recruitment Targets

    Google Quantum AI
Leading contributor to Google's QEC demonstrations. Developed the Stim simulator. Deep Floquet codes expertise from inside Google's quantum program.
  • Dr. Oscar Higgott
    Google Quantum AI
Research scientist working on hyperbolic and semi-hyperbolic Floquet codes (arXiv: 2308.03750). Cutting-edge Floquet code design.
  • Dr. Christophe Vuillot
    QuTech / TU Delft
Published "Planar Floquet Codes" — a key advance making Floquet codes practical. Academic setting, may be more recruitable than Google folks.
  • Dr. Adam Paetznick
    Microsoft Research
Improved Floquet code threshold by order of magnitude for Majorana qubits. Deep expertise in fault-tolerant protocols.
  • Dr. Christina Knapp
    Microsoft Research
Majorana zero modes + topological QC + Floquet codes. Bridges the theoretical and experimental sides.

Who Gives Us Instant Credibility

These are the big names that make investors and researchers take us seriously. Advisory roles — not full-time. Stock options + quarterly meetings.

ADVISOR — FOUNDING FATHER

Prof. Marlan O. Scully

Texas A&M / Princeton / Baylor

The FOUNDING FATHER of quantum thermodynamics. His 2003 Science paper "Extracting Work from a Single Heat Bath via Vanishing Quantum Coherence" showed quantum coherence enables exceeding Carnot. His name on our advisory board would be a nuclear credibility bomb. The godfather of everything we're building.

ADVISOR — PIONEER

Prof. Ronnie Kosloff

Hebrew University of Jerusalem

Pioneer of quantum heat engines — introduced the quantum Otto cycle. Major review: "Quantum Thermodynamics: A Dynamical Viewpoint." If Scully is the godfather, Kosloff is the architect. His theoretical framework IS the field.

ADVISOR — EXPERIMENTALIST

Prof. Immanuel Bloch

Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics / LMU Munich

Leading experimentalist in Floquet engineering with cold atoms. If we want to prove our systems work in the lab, his experimental expertise is unmatched. Max Planck affiliation adds European credibility.

ADVISOR — TOPOLOGICAL

Prof. Netanel Lindner

Technion, Israel

Pioneered anomalous Floquet topological phases. His work on Floquet-induced topological states is foundational. Technion is a world-class brand in technology commercialization.

ADVISOR — FLOQUET INVENTOR

Dr. Matthew B. Hastings

Microsoft Research (Station Q)

CO-INVENTED Floquet codes with Haah (Quantum 5, 564, 2021). The honeycomb code paper is THE foundational Floquet codes paper. Having the inventor of Floquet codes on our board is the ultimate positioning move.

ADVISOR — PUBLIC VOICE

Dr. Nicole Yunger Halpern

NIST / University of Maryland

Author of "Quantum Steampunk." Rare combination of serious researcher + excellent public communicator. Active LinkedIn (3K followers). Would amplify our message to both scientific and general audiences.

Scaling the Team

Once the core science team is in place, these roles build the company around them.

HIGH PRIORITY

VP Business Development

Energy industry partnerships. Must have relationships with Shell, Enel, EDF, or DOE. Translates quantum physics into energy sector language. Targets DOE/ARPA-E grants.

HIGH PRIORITY

Head of IP & Patent Strategy

Our domain portfolio is step one. Step two is filing provisional patents around Floquet heat engine designs, squeezed-state generation methods, and Floquet code implementations. Need someone who knows quantum IP.

HIGH PRIORITY

Quantum Control Engineer

Pulse sequences, calibration, experimental control systems. The person who makes the Floquet driving protocols work in hardware. Look at alumni from Google Quantum AI, IBM Quantum, or Rigetti.

Target: Kevin Satzinger — Research Scientist at Google Quantum AI. linkedin.com/in/kevinsatzinger

PHASE 2

Photonics Engineer

Squeezed light generation is how we build non-thermal reservoirs. Need someone from quantum optics — Xanadu alumni are ideal (they build photonic quantum computers using squeezed states).

Target: Nathan Killoran — Xanadu. linkedin.com/in/nkilloran

PHASE 2

Cryogenic Systems Engineer

Quantum systems operate at millikelvin temperatures. Need expertise in dilution refrigerators, cryogenic electronics, and thermal management.

PHASE 2

Government Relations / Grants

DARPA, ARPA-E, NSF, DOE funding is essential for early-stage quantum hardware companies. Need someone who has navigated federal funding. Former DARPA/ARPA-E program managers are gold.
